Why Celebrate Sake?
Sake Day is celebrated every year on the 1st of October, when Japan and the world join together to cheer the sake industry. The event used to be regarded as only a national event in Japan, since October 1 is traditionally the starting date of sake production in the country. However, nowadays Sake Day has morphed from being a small event only known to the sake industry into a day for people in and outside of Japan to celebrate together.
Sake is deeply rooted in Japanese culture and local communities as well. Even today, it is still part of celebrations and all types of gatherings, from weddings to anniversaries to even getting a new job. However, sake is so much more than that. Those working in this industry are passionate and extremely dedicated, working long hours, getting up in the middle of the night to check on the koji, and paying amazing attention to details to ensure the product brings joy to consumers.
So on this day, let's all raise a glass (or sake cup!) of a premium sake and say "kanpai" to this great alcoholic beverage!
The Saito Shuzo brewery has been running for more than 110 years in Fushimi, Kyoto. "EIKUN" sake became the company's corporate brand name in 1905. Since then, "EIKUN" has become a brand name that is synonymous with finenst sake.
