World Cocktail Day is a global celebration of cocktails; it marks the publication date of the first definition of a cocktail on May 13 in 1806. The New York tabloid The Balance and Columbian Repository defined a cocktail as "a stimulating liquor, composed of spirits of any kind, sugar, water and bitters", however, this definition evolved throughout the 1800s, to include the addition of a liqueur.

This pear liqueur is made from 100% Hita pears produced in Hita, Oita Prefecture. It is the best pear liqueur in terms of both taste and flavour, made using the best pears (Niitaka and Hosui varieties) grown in Hita, a basin region with a climate with large temperature differences between summer and winter and between day and night, and with the exquisite skills of the production staff.

This product was created with the help of a famous bartender Takahisa Koda (from Hita City), who has won many prizes, including the 2003 World Championship where he won the world's top prize in his category. Takahisa Koda takes the fruits of the four seasons, the bounty of the earth, and transforms them into a glass of another dimension with his finely honed sensitivity and mastery of his craft. Amongst all, his greatest love is the Hita nashi pear. "I want to make the world's best cocktail using Hita pears". Eventually, this desire came true in the form of Rien Nashi Liqueur.

Original cocktail (RIEN)
Recipe: 50 ml Rien Nashi Liqueuer, 10 ml gin, 5 ml lemon juice.
