December 10 Is National Lager Day! Celebrate With Yuzu Lager!

December 10 Is National Lager Day!

Lagers are distinguished from other beers by using a cold-conditioning process. This process is called "bottom fermentation", and it uses yeast strains that work effectively at lower temperatures, causing the yeast to work less vigorously and create carbon dioxide more slowly. This results in less turbulence in the beer and yeast precipitating early in its life cycle. Before refrigerators, brewers perfected this process in cellars dug into the ground and filled with ice. Those who taste the delicious results described the lager as “crisp” and “refreshing.” It is no wonder that this method caught on and produced a wide variety of brews synonymous with regional and national brands.

With so many choices from pale, amber or dark, not to mention the many craft varieties there is are endless possibilities for your enjoyment. While the background to the day is relatively unknown but breweries and lager lovers alike relish the national observance, and we believe that it is a great occasion to enjoy your favourite lager or try some new ones!
