Nakao Brewery of Hiroshima Prefecture crafts the highly-acclaimed Junmai Daiginjo Maboroshi Red Box with meticulous care. Served for three years in a row as "Imperial New Year sake," this delectable Daiginjo features a measure of ±0 to create a slight sweetness, differing from other breweries. It contains native apple yeast adding a pleasant sweetness to its aroma and fully-developed flavour, resulting in a truly delicious and unique sake.

From the Producer & Sake Ojisan



It was in 1945, shortly after the war. It all started when I discovered a yeast with Kiyoma Nakao, who was the fourth generation owner.
Kiyoma, who visited breweries all over the country and collected innumerable yeasts from the natural world and repeated research, came across yeast collected from apple skin. It had a very special power that was unthinkable in the past, to bring out a fruity aroma to sake.
The sake won the first prize at the national competition in 1948. Twenty-five years later, in 1974, Daiginjo "Maboroshi" was faithfully revived.
Junmai Daiginjo Hara Sake, which is rich in fruity scent, is produced by making full use of our top secret techniques such as highly refined sake rice and apple yeast.
