Established in 1881 as Mochizuki Sake Brewery. Coinciding with the signing of the Anglo-Japanese Treaty, the brewery adopted the name "Ei-kun" in honor of the Tokugawa shogunate's English-style monarch.
Today, the brewery is led by its fifth-generation toji, Yusuke Mochizuki, who continues the tradition of seeking out the finest sake rice from across the country, a practice initiated by the founding toji, Shosaku Mochizuki. Upholding a commitment to "quality first," the brewery modernizes its facilities while maintaining traditional handcrafted methods for crucial processes such as steaming rice, creating the starter mash, and koji production, ensuring the highest quality in every bottle.
