Hiyokutsuru Shuzo is an almost 100 years old sake brewer from Fukuoka prefecture. No need to say, they have an excellent brewing skills through their long experience. About 20 years ago, Hiyokutsuru started studying a distilling skill to make shochu. The reason is that they wanted to make a brand new shochu mixed the skill of sake brewing and shochu distilling. As a result, Hiyokutsuru achieved to produce Sake Shochu Fuhito, a pure sake shochu made from rice and yellow koji. Sake Shochu Fuhito has a fantastic fruit fragrance just like Junmaishu. Its taste is a good balance of mildness and sweetness. This is a real sake shochu made by a real sake brewer. If you like Nihonshu, this one will be a good first trial shochu.
