Choya Tasting at Deko Boko

Tonight, Cold, Rainy & Quiet Melbourne night.

At Deko Boko Richmond, we had a special CHOYA FREE TASTING with Mr. Inaba from Choya Japan.

Thanks for a few groups of people came in to taste some of the latest CHOYA products such as The Choya Aged 3 years and CHOYA YUZU!

We also had a special guest Mr. Minamishima from Sushi Minamishima! He enjoyed the 100% Organic CHOYA!

~Sake Network in Kyoto~


This time, I will introduce Kyoto’s famous brewery.
Kyoto -Fushimi, where sake making was popular as a town of sake brewery, especially in ancient times in Kyoto. Fushimi, the gateway of Kyoto City, consists of the plains along the three rivers Katsuragawa, Kamogawa and Uji River, and the mountain ranges of mountains with the hills as the south edge.
Fushimi is a place rich in high-quality underground water to such an extent that it was also written as “freshwater”. Smooth and mellow, specifically the balance of elements such as potassium and calcium in the medium-hard water that is of the perfect quality and composition for making sake.

First generation Matsumoto Harurokuro started in Fushimi in 1914. “Kappa” has settled as an image character. While inheriting the traditional sake culture, they focused on the development of products that insist on the individuality of each sake, with the motto “Quality-oriented sake brewing”. Located in the heart of Kyoto, Yamamoto Honke was founded in 1677 at its present location, Fushimi.
Benefiting from the soft and rich spring water, Shiragikusui (water of white chrysanthemum) the brewery continues to produce excellent sake which is the perfect match for traditional Japanese cuisine.
The brewery owns izakaya style restaurants in several locations in Kyoto and Osaka, with its main restaurant converted from a sake warehouse.

The Best Selling sake from last month is Kizakura Yuzu Highball 330ml.  We will introduce it.

~Product introduction~
Kizakura Yuzu Highball is new series of Japanese R.T.D (ready to drink) Sake Cocktail. Yuzu is a kind of Japanese citrus cross between lemon, lime & orange. Often Yuzu is used for Japanese cuisine as a spice. Yuzu highball is made from Yuzu infused in Kizakura semi dry sake and carbonated to give extra refreshment. Great matching with Japanese food especially distinct flavoured dishes such as Sea Archin, Fish Roe or slow cooked Pork Belly or even Roasted Duck. Enjoy chilled or on the rocks.

Kizakura has become a nationallyrenowned brand, and the same can be said for the Kizakura corporate brand character, the Kappa. The company produces three well-known sake brands: Karakuchi Ikkon, Kimoto Yamahai and Honzukuri. It has three restaurants Sho Fu Rou, Jiroku-Tei and Kappa Country, where customers can enjoy all the Kizakura sake as well as its microbrewed beers.
