National Mango Day is July 22! Celebrate with Fruit Sake!19 Jul 2021
July 22 Is Mango Day!
Mangoes are believed to have originated from the region between northwestern Myanmar, Bangladesh, and northeastern India. The mango is cultivated in most frost-free tropical climates, with almost half the world’s mango supply harvested in India.
Some may find it surprising to hear that mango, the most popular tropical fruit, is grown in Japan. Thanks to its subtropical climate, Okinawa Prefecture and Miyazaki Prefecture are able to grow excellent quality mangoes. Mangoes from Miyazaki are especially prized for being extra sweet and tasty, with tight quality control to ensure a 15% sugar content and a minimum weight of 350 grams.
